MATERIALS
What are the advantages of composite rifle stocks? Traditional wooden rifle stocks can shrink, swell and twist with variations in humidity and temperature. Such changes can significantly alter the accuracy and reliability of your rifle. Composite rifle stocks are inert to such effects and will give you a stable platform under all weather conditions.
What are Wild Dog rifle stocks made from? Our stocks are made from layers of carbon and glass fibre and epoxy resin moulded as one-piece, seamless units. Carbon fibre typically comprises the majority of the material in the finished stock. The fore end and butt section cores are of light-weight foam which is specifically chosen for its strength and is unique to Wild Dog. The action area of each stock is of solid composite construction.
Why does Wild Dog extensively use carbon fibre? Because it is the best material available, being light, massively strong, stiff, tough and impervious. Apart from being virtually indestructible, our rigid, inflexible carbon fibre stocks will give you the best possible platform for accurate shooting.
Does Wild Dog use metal bedding blocks in its rifle stocks? No. In our carbon fibre rifle stocks metal bedding blocks do not provide any benefit at all. There is more than ample stiffness provided by the carbon fibre construction and the seamless, one piece construction does not require a bedding block.
Can I get a custom paint on my stock? Yes, refer to our products page.
How durable and wear resistant is the paintwork? Wild Dog uses quality polyurethane paints, the most durable and wear resistant available. The rigours of field use can be expected to cause minor wear and scratches over time.
CONSTRUCTION
How are Wild Dog rifle stocks made? Our carbon fibre composite rifle stocks are all individually hand-laid. We have a unique, proprietary technique for manufacturing our stocks as seamless, one-piece units. Finishing and painting is individually hand done as well.
FEATURES
Can you tell me more about the integral ammunition storage (patent pending) system? The integral ammunition storage system is available only on Wild Dog rifle stocks. A hinged hatch fits discreetly flush with the flat surface of the rifle stock butt. Opening this hatch rotates a store of securely held ammunition conveniently ready to hand. This is extremely useful on any rifle. There are several versions available from rimfire up to magnum calibres. The ammo store holds a string of individual cartridges ready for instant reloading. We cater for most popular short action cartridges.
What does the zero-profile QD sling lug (patent pending) involve? Our “ZP” lugs are permanently flush with the stock profile, always available, never a nuisance. On certain models a fore end stud is provided as well - for bipod mounting.

FITTING
Do I need to bed my action in your rifle stock? For field hunting, a non-bedded Wild Dog rifle stock will give more than adequate accuracy, assuming that you, your rifle and loads are up to the mark. For the utmost accuracy we would recommend glass bedding of the action, particularly for bench, varmint and tactical rifles. This should be done by your gunsmith.
